Module 4 Objectives:
- identify Ministry designations as outlined in the BC Ministry of Education
- understand the characteristics of low incidence categories
- recognize the diverse instructional methods and appropriate resources which fall under inclusion
What did I know about low incidence categories before this module?
- I knew that some of the disabilities found in the low incidents categories include: deaf-blind, blind, deaf, autism spectrum disorder, profound intellectual disabilities, and physical disabilities. I'm sure I've missed some.
- I knew that these categories receive supplemental support, probably because people with these exceptionalities may need access to specialists, tools, and equipment that people with exceptionalities in high incidence categories may not need.
- in addition to universal strategies, students with low incidence designations may need special supports such as assistive technology, special seating, and special tools.
