As stated in the beginning of module 4, we as educators are moving away from teaching content to teaching for understanding and doing. The shift has encouraged us to look at how we can design our lessons to be accessible to all learners, in a similar fashion as buildings are designed to be accessible people of all abilities. In the video above Moore mention, "The supports that we design for kids on the outside of the lane are actually supports that all of the kids need." (2016, 2:39) By designing are lessons, like our buildings, to be accessible to those on the "outside lane" we are actually supporting many different learners.

What are adaptation and modifications?
Adaptation are "teaching and assessment strategies made to accommodate a student's special needs." (BC Ministry of education, 2016, p.2)
Modifications are "learning outcomes that are substantially different from the regular curriculum, and specifically selected to meet the student's special needs." (BC Ministry of education, 2016, p.2)
It is important to note that most students in primary school will not be on modified plans.
